Vehicles in German City Found Covered with Nazi Symbols in Human Blood, Law Enforcement State

Approximately fifty cars have been marked with what seems to be blood from a person in the German municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.

Cars, walls and postboxes were vandalized, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they announced in a release.

Officers report they were alerted during the night on Wednesday evening, when a man observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been covered with a reddish-hued liquid.

The substance had been applied in the form of a swastika, they added.

Officers then found multiple other vandalized vehicles and building exteriors in the surrounding area.

Swastikas are banned in Germany under regulations outlawing the public display of symbols from the Nazi era.

Law enforcement say preliminary tests indicate the liquid was likely blood from a person.

"Currently there is no clue as to its origin; investigators are currently not aware of any harm in connection with the occurrence," they added.

City officials stated they were working "to solve the case" and have requested to the community for details.

A senior official said the vandalism left him stunned and required to be resolved quickly.

"This act affects the very heart of Hanau and reopens the pain of the far-right violent incident half a decade ago," he stated on a platform, recalling the murder of nine individuals by a gunman aiming at individuals of foreign heritage in February 2020.
